The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) School of Fine Arts and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres are partnering for a unique and engaging theatrical experience for our community — the premiere of The 24 Hour Musicals® in Minneapolis. This event brings together the extraordinary talent of local and nationally-known artists to create and perform brand-new theatrical works within 24 hours.

Four playwrights, four directors, 24 actors and a house band volunteer their time to create four NEW musicals in the course of a single day — and perform them in front of a live audience that night.

The show features some of the hottest theatrical talent in the Twin Cities, as well as nationally recognizable artists from the stage and screen.

Proceeds support the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres/UMD Department of Theatre Scholarship Fund and the Hennepin Theatre Trust's Spotlight Education Program.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres and the University of Minnesota Duluth created "The Chanhassen Dinner Theatres and UMD Department of Theatre Educational and Professional Alliance" in 2012.  This affiliation is a collaborative effort to provide a professional training program for UMD Department of Theatre students; to strengthen ties in an intentional, visible and mutually beneficial partnership between organizations; and to preserve the art form of musical theatre in our communities and state.  CDT and UMD share distinguished reputations for their musical theatre programs and are locally, regionally and nationally recognized for their quality and longevity.  In 2014, the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres' Scholarship Fund was established.  Eligible UMD theatre students may apply!
